Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world.
Sony continues its expansion of the Spider-Man universe with one of Peter Parker’s most iconic adversaries, Kraven the Hunter. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will show the world his action star cred is legit (who doubted that after Bullet Train?) in this ultra-violent origin story, the first Sony/Marvel movie with an R rating. It’s no secret that the film is promising the appearance of Rhino (another Spidey foe), leaving fans hopeful that the oft-teased Sinister Six team-up movie may actually be on the horizon
For the character of Kraven, Sony approached celebrities including Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, John David Washington, and Adam Driver. However, the producers swiftly decided to cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson after being blown away by the first trailer for the movie Bullet Train. Taylor-Johnson agreed to play Kraven in a number of movies that would come after Kraven the Hunter. He is most known for playing the title character in Kick-Ass and its sequel as well as Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kraven was considered for film appearances several times before Sony became interested in a standalone film for the character, as part of their new shared universe, in 2017. Wenk was hired in August 2018, with Marcum and Holloway joining later. Chandor entered negotiations to direct in August 2020, and was confirmed in May 2021 when Taylor-Johnson was cast. Further casting took place in early 2022, before filming began in late March in London, England and concluded by mid-June. Shooting also occurred in Iceland, and was expected to occur in Glasgow.
